AFTERCARE INFORMATION

Your aftercare instructions will be thoroughly explained during your consultation, and you'll receive a written copy via email following your appointment. We also provide aftercare pamphlets in our clinic for your convenience.

Following your aftercare instructions is important to avoid complications, aid healing, and minimize down time. The below information is general in nature. Please follow the aftercare instructions specifically given to you by your healthcare provider.

• Remain upright for 4 hours after your treatment.
• You may notice some small bumps or marks to the area treated; these should resolve within a few hours.
• Do not rub or massage the treated area for 48 hours after treatment. Gentle washing of the area is fine.
• Avoid pressure on the treated area for the first few days eg. Headbands or hats.
• Abstain from vigorous exercise, heavy lifting or straining for the next 48 hours.
• Avoid any direct heat to the treated area (eg saunas, direct sunlight).
• Avoid anti-inflammatory medications (such as Ibuprofen), fish oils and herbal supplements that thin the blood (such as gingko, green tea and St John Wort), as they may increase the occurrence of bruising. You can take Paracetamol if needed.
• No facials, microdermabrasion or laser treatments to the area for the next 14 days.

• Keep the area clean and make-up free immediately after treatment.
• Avoid alcohol, strenuous exercise and extremes in temperature, such as saunas, spas or swimming in heated pools for the next 48 hours.
• Avoid eyewear resting on the treated area (eg if you had cheek treatment).
• Bruising is not uncommon. However, if there is a bruise present in the area of the face that has not been treated, or any pain associated with bruising, please contact the clinic or after hours contact number.
• To alleviate bruising you can use icepacks 3-4 times per day in 10 minute increments. You can continue to do this until swelling decreases or subsides. You can also apply Arnicare cream to the area treated – which is available to purchase from the clinic or your local pharmacy. 
• If swelling or redness is present, you can manage this with a cold compress.
• Avoid anti inflammatories (such as Ibuprofen), fish oils and herbal supplements that thin the blood (such as gingko, green tea and St John Wort), as they may increase the occurrence of bruising. You can take Paracetamol if needed.
• If you suffer from cold sores and haven’t already done so, please purchase anti-cold sore tablets such as Famciclovir from the pharmacy and take as soon as possible
• The final results can be expected at the 4 week mark, where the product will have “settled”.

• No makeup for 12-24 hours following treatment
• For the first 3-5 days, avoid the use of active skincare products such as retinol, glycolic acids, AHAs, BHAs, exfoliating granules, perfumes and colours. You can use a simple moisturiser to keep the skin moist, and a cool compress as needed
• Avoid vigorous exercise, pools, spas, hot showers and saunas for 48 hours following treatment
• Your skin will be more sensitive to the sun, please avoid the sun and use sun protection until fully healed
• Avoid applying self-tanning lotions for 2 weeks post treatment
• Slight crusting or scabbing may occur, to prevent scarring, do not rub or pick at your skin
• If you have any concerns or questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. 

It may take up to 7-10 days for your skin to renew itself and the appearance of your skin to stabilize. During the renewal period, you may experience the following: tightness, a pink flushed appearance, itching, peeling, shedding and mild flaking.

To avoid the possibility of scarring, for 7 days NO NOT:

- Expose treated area to the sun

- Peel, pick, scrape, or scratch the skin

- Hair removal: waxing, threading, bleaching or laser/ IPL

- Cosmetic procedures: aesthetic fillers, anti-wrinkle injections, facial threads & surgery

- Invasive skin treatments: microneedling, microdermabrasion, laser resurfacing, dermal peels

- Apply active products, such as prescription retinoids, over the counter Vitamin A, AHA or BHA's

- Engage in heat causing activities: hot showers, baths, saunas, hot Pilates, or go swimming for 24 hours

- Exfoliate the skin with active ingredients or with physical scrubs

To improve healing and outcomes, DO use:

- Cleansing oil or Daily Cleanser (Daily Cleanser contains a small amount of AHA/BHA therefore may tingle when used post peel on more sensitive skin)

- Hyaluronic B5 serum or Vitamin B3 serum

- Moisturiser with Sunscreen, OR, 

- Daily Defense SPF50 or Dry Touch SPF50+

Optional:

- Hydration Booster

- The Face Mineral Makeup

IMPORTANT: Post Complexion Perfection Peel - self neutralizes. 

It is very important you DO NOT apply water or water-based products to the treated area for 4 hours. Water will reactive the peel, and may cause tingling, redness and irritation.
